2020 Wyndham Championship Picks

wyndham championship picks

The 2020 Wyndham Championship is the last PGA Tournament of the regular season before the FedEx Cup playoffs begin next week.  So far there have been some big names that have committed to playing the Wyndham Championship even though the last two weeks have had some big events and the next three weeks could be another stretch of big events too.

Some of the players already committed to playing this week include: Webb Simpson, Shane Lowry, Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, Patrick Reed and Tommy Fleetwood. Many other top golfers will take the week off to have a break and to gear up for the next few weeks but some are entering the Wyndham Championship to improve their FedEx Cup point standings to try to make a run at the big money grand prize.

In making picks this week we will take a look at the course history of some of the players playing as the tournament has been played at Sedgefield Country Club, a Donald Ross built course, for over a decade. Watching who is playing the hot hand this week too is a strategy to keep an eye on as the Sedgefield course is a bit of a birdie fest and guys whose game is firing on all cylinders can simply score in bunches. Last year the winning score was -22 and the cut line was -4. This could be a longshot week given that it is a weak field so besides my sleeper picks below make sure to check out our Wyndham Championship Sleeper Report by our very own Chris Duffing.

Favorite Picks to Win the 2020 PGA Championship

Odds are provided by our top betting partner Intertops.com

Webb Simpson

ODDS TO WIN – 10 to 1

Simpson loves this course, at least his record here makes it seem like he does. Since he won the tournament in 2011 he has finished in the top 10 five times including his last three years having finishes of 2nd – 2nd -3rd . It helps that it is usually a bit of a weaker field but Simpson is playing really well right now anyway so everything almost lines up for him to win again this year.

Tommy Fleetwood

ODDS TO WIN – 18 to 1

I am picking Fleetwood because aside from Webb Simpson who seems to own the course, Fleetwood is right now playing some of his best golf and is the most talented golfer of the current field for the Wyndham Championship. Fleetwood played well last week at the PGA Championship and looked like he would win before settling back down the leaderboard.

Sleeper Picks For The Wyndham Championship

Billy Horschel

ODDS TO WIN – 33 to 1

Horschel has played some decent golf the last few weeks and has a pretty solid record at the Sedgefield Country Club including a 6th place finish last year and a T11 in 2018. He won’t be looked at too closely by oddsmakers or bettors but he is worth a look at Intertops this week if his odds stay high enough.

Rory Sabbatini

ODDS TO WIN – 80 to 1

Sabbatini has a solid record playing at the Wyndham Championship and finished in 6th last year. Played all four rounds last week at the PGA Championship although never made any noise and you wouldn’t have even noticed that he was there. He is another sleeper pick bordering on longshot to win but his past history there makes him an interesting bet to make this week.

Other Wyndham Championship Betting Picks to Consider

Patrick Reed (14 to 1) –  Past champion at the Sedgefield Country Club and has had some good other showings in previous years. I like Reed to make a charge this week to maybe get some momentum heading into the FedEx Cup playoffs. His odds won’t be too bad and would net you a nice payout if he wins.

Brandt Snedeker (50 to 1) –  Snedeker is more of a Sleeper pick this week based on how he’s played this year however he is a two time winner of the Wyndham Championship (although only one of those wins was at Sedgefield) and has a great record at the course otherwise. He turned some heads last week shooting a 66 in round 2 of the PGA Championship before falling back down to earth on the weekend but makes an interesting bet to win outright this week at long odds.
