Shriners Hospitals For Children Open Picks 2020

shriners open golf

Normally the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open gets a decent field of players but this year the tournament will be a bit stronger because of a 3 tournament west coast swing that the PGA Tour is on and it all starts at the Shriners. Played at TPC Summerlin bettors this week can expect a birdie fest with previous winners usually scoring in the -20’s to win.

A strong field of players is set to hit Las Vegas with names committed to play such as: recent major winners Bryson DeChambeau and Collin Morikawa, Jason Day, Rickie Fowler, Paul Casey, Hideki Matsuyama, Tony Finau, Matthew Wolff, Louis Oosthuizen and Matt Kuchar.

There were a bunch of other names that were looked at for betting picks this week, most notably Bryson DeChambeau and Collin Morikawa and they are still solid bets to win but sometimes coming off a major championship win also comes with a bit of a hangover. I wanted to caveat this in case they do win this week and I don’t want to look like a hack in not acknowledging my strong consideration of them as a bet this week.

Favorites To Bet On

Patrick Cantlay

He has played the Shriners Open 3 times and has won and had two 2nd place finishes. You get the feeling that he likes playing the course. Cantlay will be one of the top betting favorites this week at Intertops and worth looking at for an outright win pick.

Webb Simpson

Simpson plays the Shriners every year and has a great record including a win and three Top 10 finishes. Simpson seems to still be rolling finishing in 8th at the US Open and there’s no reason to not look at him as a top bet to win this week’s Shriners Open.

Shriners Hospitals Open Sleeper Picks

Adam Hadwin

Not a deep sleeper pick for the Shriners but most people won’t give him too much play this week. He is 3 for 4 in cuts made including two Top 10’s in his career at TPC Summerlin. Finished in 4th last year and would be a bit of a surprise win this week given the talent in the field but not a total shock to the golfing world.

Rickie Fowler

Rickie Fowler a sleeper pick? Tell me how many tournaments have you bet on him to win lately…exactly! So I put in Fowler as a sleeper in the belief that if he is ever to take a step to the next level it’ll have to be soon and why not on a course that he’s had some relative success at. He is 4 for 4 in career cuts made with two Top 10’s and still has the game to compete against some of the rising stars on the PGA Tour in the field this week.

Other Bets To Consider This Week

Kevin Na – Na has won this event twice in his career and is the defending champion. He also has a 2nd place finish at the Shriners from 2016. He won’t be looked at too closely this week because of the bigger names in the tourney but if you don’t think he can outplay some of the top golfers in the field, at least look at him for some prop bets like twosome or threesome plays.

Tony Finau – 6 for 6 in cuts made at TPC Summerlin with two Top 10’s and two more Top 20’s. Like Fowler, Finau to me is due for a big career breakout and this would be a nice spot to do it. He finished in 8th at the US Open a couple of weeks ago and is headed in the right direction.
