2020 Bermuda Championship Picks

For a bettor, making picks for the Bermuda Championship is tough because it is a new event and because it has a bunch of no-name golfers playing. The Bermuda Championship entered the PGA Tour schedule in 2019 as an alternate event to be played during the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions. This year, because of Covid cancelling events overseas the Bermuda Championship gets elevated to a full tournament event for 2020.

However, don’t expect to see many big names in the field this week as most of the best golfers have just finished a 3 tournament west coast swing and now are resting up for the Masters which is two weeks from now. The field for the Bermuda Championship will be made up of the bottom of the PGA Tour money list, some local qualifiers and some sponsor exemptions invited to play this week.

If you are betting this week you will get some great odds when picking outright winners since there won’t be any true favorites to win this week to focus in on.

The tournament is played at the Port Royal Golf Course in the Southampton parish in Bermuda. The course is a beautiful course but shorter than most coming in under 7000 yards (6827 yards to be exact) and playing as a Par 71. Expect a lot of birdies this week with low scores when you are making your betting picks.

Favorites To Win The Bermuda Championship

Brendon Todd

Defending champion, Todd comes in playing well. I don’t like that he is travelling from California to Bermuda but he is the highest ranked player in the tournament and he is probably one of the better picks to make this week. As I mentioned, be wary of the travel factor if you are going to bet on him to win outright at Intertops this week.

Doc Redman

Redman has had a couple of weeks off which puts him into a good spot to play well this week. He was in last year’s tournament and finished in 35th but has improved quite a bit since a year ago. A good bet to win outright at decent odds this week.

Bermuda Championship Sleeper Picks

Will Zalatoris

The rookie is playing well and in a weak field like this one, this could be a great bet to make to win and get a decent payout if he pulls it out. Zalatoris has three Top 10 finishes in four starts since the beginning of the season and is trying to make the most of his tournament entries. A win here would put in on the PGA Tour for the rest of the year.

Maverick McNealy

Last year was the first full year on the PGA Tour and he did “OK” but nothing to write home about. He is a talented young guy who many think could be a star one day on Tour. He played in last year’s Bermuda Championship and finished in 35th but with a full year under his belt he could be a great sleeper pick to consider for the week.

Other Bets To Consider

Emiliano Grillo – When I see a weak tournament field and Grillo entered I do like to make bets on him. He was always a favorite DFS pick of mine at DraftKings but last year he was a disaster on Tour. Grillo was a rising star for a while and then kind of regressed. If he is to ever win again on the PGA Tour it would be in a weak field tourney like the Bermuda Championship and he may be a better twosome or threesome play in tournaments given he only has one career win.

Harold Varner III – Many have looked at Varner having a breakout in his career this year. So far in the two tournaments he’s played in, he’s made both cuts finishing in 13th in his best finish. Varner could be a solid pick to look at this week given he won’t be playing against many big names. Definitely look at him at some in play betting at Intertops this week.
